My food trip to Bangalore - 2

Day 2, Dec 31st, 2K9.

The day started earlier than expected on a holiday @ 6 am. Headed for a shower and had to literally drag my hubby out of bed so that we cud go grab a hearty b'fast. We had decided that the b'fast @ the hotel was a strict no-no and so we went b'fast-joint hunting.

The last b'fast of 2K9 was @ Brindavan Hotel, M G Road. As they say, "never judge a book by it's cover", so too, here we were surprised. We were pretty put off by the appearance and the general hygiene of the place, but decided to go ahead since it was recommended by a trust-worthy friend. We ordered idli, vada, plain dosa and coffee. It was truly tasty and all this for just Rs. 80/- WOW!

Looks can, after all, be deceptive!! :-)

The lunch on the 31st was with our relatives @ South Indies, Infantry Road.

The speciality of this place is that the menu comprises exclusively of the 4 southern states of India, viz. Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. And they are authentic to the core...

We had the lunch buffet and don't ask me the names of the dishes on offer there, coz I couldn't read them then and do not remember them now. All I remember is that I had a wonderful time there...

We now reach the climax of the day... The New Year's Eve.. As I have mentioned earlier, my husband and I were celebrrating our 10th wedding Anniversary on the 1st of Jan, so we decided to make it extra special.

We booked ourselves a table at The Gateway Hotel, Residency Road.

It was par excellance... The arrangement there was beyond expectations. We were seated at our allocated table and were then introduced to Raja and Munish who were to take care of us that evening.

The starters started coming to our table one after the other... there was "hara bhara kabab", "cheese and veg balls", "cracker pizza" and several others which I don't seem to remember.. We then ordered a drink for ourselves and hit the dance floor.

The food spread was huge and very filling. The dessert table was the best. Wide variety of desserts and I just couldn't decide on how many to eat...

Our evening ended @ 12:30 that night and what a way to ring in the new and ring out the old....

Happy 2010 to all...

I'm drooling from early morning today reading your blog. Don't blame me if you fall sick. :P

I have lived in B'lore for around a year long back for treatment. So, I can imagine your excitement, everything feels so huge; roads, hotels etc. BTW, belated Happy Tin Jubilee of your wedding. :)
